In 2021, we brought The Good Charcoal to the U.S. market—a hardwood lump charcoal made 100% chemical-free acacia, an invasive species in Namibia and Southern Africa. By sourcing acacia, we found not just one solution but two: a dense hardwood perfect for creating superior charcoal, and an opportunity to help restore native grasslands. Our mission began with a purpose: providing quality charcoal while contributing to environmental restoration.
From the start, we saw a bigger picture than just grilling. We witnessed families across America struggling to put food on the table, and we knew we could make a difference. Since our founding, we’ve made it our mission to help fight food insecurity. Partnering with food pantries and community programs across the U.S., we’ve provided over 50,000 hot BBQ meals (and counting) to those in need. Because being a good neighbor means believing everyone deserves access to a hearty, nutritious meal.
At The Good Charcoal, our commitment extends beyond just great grilling. We believe in a sustainable approach—one that respects the environment, lifts communities, and brings people together. By using invasive acacia wood, we protect natural habitats, prevent unnecessary deforestation, and support wildlife conservation efforts. It’s our promise to make charcoal that’s not only good for your grill but also good for the planet and the communities we serve. We’re more than just a product on a shelf; we’re part of a movement for a cleaner environment, stronger communities, and better choices for every family.
